WLG,
What helped you to let the curtain drop, as you say, and live in the present?
the idea for this thread was sparked by seeing that a lot of guys thought that the latest km article would be a great talking point.
there are a number of jwd poster who have lived through the hell of having a wife who thinks it is the truth.
i am happy to say that i have been through it and survived.
Hey Drew,
I have a husband who still believes, so can I tag along for crumbs that might help?
in this organization, how can any witness express their disapproval of anything?
the society has.
even stooped so low as to disfellowship people who disagree with the fact of other people being .
Rebel 18,
You are really funny. Love your sense of humor.
Sisters-Wear pants to the meetings, Go to the bathroom and stay and talk for most of the meeting. Make comments that can be taken more than one way and then act surprised and offended if someone asks you about them.
Take a book and place it inside a large version of the Bible and read away.
Sit in the back rows they save for families with little ones.
Tell everyone you are hard of hearing and then listen to music on the apparatus that amplifies for you.
when i was young, many pioneered after hs or went to bethel.
that was normal.
it was not until 25, some realized they were waisting their life away and made changes / df.
Many are just plain leaving. The ones that stay tend to get married at an early age, which often ends in divorce. There are a few who try to advance in the organization, but not much reason to set your sights on Bethel when they are downsizing and tossing their faithful ones on the street. As for pioneering, I just havn't seen young ones getting involved in this much at all.
Quite a few have started college in spite of the warnings against evil, higher education. They often end up exiting the org. soon after starting though.
in jesus day, when he and the apostles were wandering around, demonized people are everywhere.
people just pointed and said "he has a demon in him" and nobody even flinched.
like duh, eveyone knows that and it was normal.
I often wondered where all these demonized people went to also. There seemed to be a lot of them in the 1st century. The only conclusion I could come up with is that they were really mentally ill. Some mental illnesses can cause a break with reality and appear to be demonized.
i have never really thought about it.. but i think i do want to go to heaven.. i want to have a personal relationship with jesus, feel comfortable praying to him and to god.
and even if it is a lie, i want to hope for it and believe it, and someday teach my children the same..
is that wrong?
You are in line with the New Testament then because that is the only hope that Jesus held out to his followers. So, no you are not out of line.
hey guys.. sometimes im really next to crying (better: im crying).
no answer.
" no answer.
Freeme,
I am living with a husband who believes and if I try to challange his beliefs, things go bad very quickly. I have faded and don't attend anymore. I have found that it is better to just not talk about it. I try to talk about things we agree on and both enjoy. You have gotten some very good advice already. Just lay low and be there for her if and when she starts to doubt.
There are a lot of changes coming up in the jw religion. Maybe her eyes will start to open, maybe not. What you each believe about religion really has nothing to do with making your marriage work. Don't let the society take your wife away. Show her you love her and live for her. That is pretty hard for most women to resist.
Sincerely, Choosing Life
ok guys and gals, i (being the assistant to the magazine counter) have acquired the newest okm.. i have uploaded it to imagevenue.com: here.
hopefully that works!.
by the way drew, your translation was very close.
Good article, Mary. They have always wanted to ask the questions and provide the answers actually. All of their meetings are in such a format. I really think that their hand will not be revealed until they start putting out the koolaid version of the watchtower. This seems to be just a preparation for the crackdown.
I do think that inactive or faders will be adressed in a much stricter way. If you have ever been baptized by this crazy group, don't think you will get away unscathed.
here is the best that i could do, but i think it gets the main points of the articles across.
i wouldn't bet my life on this translation, but i think it is good enough for our purposes.
question box.
The 2 things they mention are studying Greek or bible languages and scientific topics. It is obvious that the NW translation cannot stand the scrutiny or they would not find this threatening. As for scientific studies, I am not sure what exactly they are talking about. They mention their book on Daniel, but that and 607 seem to me to be historical studies.
Anyone have an idea what scientific studies they may be alluding to?
I think things will get a lot tighter with the new koolaid edition, for sure. It is amazing that a religion would discouage studying Greek to better understand the Bible. And just what right do they have to tell people what they can talk about with their friends? Are they going to have to start scripting family studies also?
They really hate the internet and these horrible discussion boards. That came across loud and clear. Too bad, Watchtower, because there is nothing you can do about it.
hello ex-elders, onthe wayout, snakes, and wilyloman, just to refresh about a month ago i told you all that the appeal committee had overturned the disfellowshipping decision by the original jc as the appeal committee got a hold of me by phone and told me the society gave them direction in this.
i have since explained the situation to my witness mom and dad, 80 &82, they are good with it.
i am taking copies of the counsel you ex elders gave to me to be careful about what i say at this "alleged encouragement" meeting and promise you this, i'll watch my words carefully when they ask me questions.
Mr Flipper,
Glad things worked out for you. They always ask that critical question about your allegience to the borg. When they asked me if I believed Jehovah was using them as the faithful and discreet slave, I answered , "I certainly hope so." They looked at me funny, but moved on. Those words are so hard to not choke on and to keep a straight face.
You are right that there exists more light in you and Mrs. Flipper than the entire borg. Bask in your light and freedom to think for yourselves. I always enjoy your posts and wish you both peace too.
Sincerely, Choosing Life
